Getting your home ready for professional painters doesn’t have to be stressful. Proper preparation helps the decorators start immediately, speeds up the process, and ensures that your belongings are 100% protected.
Here is our ultimate guide to preparing your rooms:
1. Remove Wall Art and Clutter
Before we arrive, please take down all paintings, clocks, mirrors, and wall decorations. It is also helpful to move small items like vases, picture frames, and electronics to another room.
2. Move Furniture to the Center of the Room
For wall and ceiling painting, our team needs clear access.
- Move heavy furniture (sofas, tables, bookcases) away from the walls and towards the center of the room.
- Leave at least a 1-meter gap around the perimeter.
- Don’t worry: We will cover all centralized furniture with clean plastic protective sheeting.
3. Take Down Curtains and Blinds
Curtains and blinds can catch plaster dust or wet paint. Remove them from the windows in rooms that are scheduled for decorating.
4. Clear the Floors & Vaccum
Vacuuming the room reduces floating dust, which is critical for a smooth paint application. Remove rugs, mats, and floor cords.
5. Keep Pets and Children Safe
Paint cans, ladders, and prep tools can be hazardous. Make arrangements to keep pets and young children away from the work zones during the decorating hours.
At Best Advantage, we take extra care to protect your home. We use professional masking tape, protective paper, and clean dust sheets to cover floors and woodwork. If you have any questions or need help moving heavy items, just let our team know!
